Rosehip Seed Oil the Queen of Oils

One of my favorite oils to work with is rosehip seed oil.

In Europe we call it the Queen of Oils and for a good reason. Rosehip seed oil is rich in essential fatty acids omega-3, omega-6, and omega-9, which help to deeply moisturize the skin and strengthen the moisture barrier. It's also impressively rich in vitamin A. This naturally occurring trans-retinoic acid (derivate of vitamin A) makes it great natural alternative to synthetic retinol promoting cell turnover, reducing fine lines and improving skin texture. Highlighting the high levels of vitamin C naturally accruing in rosehip see oil, is no brainer ;) These high levels play a vital role in collagen synthesis and are essential for maintaining skin elasticity and firmness.

Mythical Beginning

I'm fascinated by the legend surrounding rosehips!

It's said that the Greek goddess Aphrodite created roses from her tears and blood after the loss of Adonis, turning white roses red. While the petals symbolize love and passion, the resilient rosehips left behind tell a story of strength and renewal.

The legend traces its roots back to ancient civilizations like Mayans and Incas who applied rosehip to wounds, while Europeans turned to it during World War II for its high content of vitamin C. Its ability to heal and nourish isn't just folklore - our modern science backs its benefits also. Rosehip seed isn't just another ingredient, it connects us to centuries of natural healing and resilience. Each drop carries history, science, and the proof of healing power of plants.

Myths and Misconceptions: Breaking Down the Myths

Myth: Rosehip seed oil is greasy and clogs pores.

Truth: Despite being an oil, rosehip seed oil is lightweight and non-comedogenic. Its small molecular structure allows it to absorb quickly into the skin, making it suitable for all skin types, in some cases even for acne-prone skin.

Myth: It's only for aging skin.

Truth: While it's true that rosehip seed oil is rich in vitamin A and full of antioxidants that target signs of aging, its soothing and regenerative properties also make it perfect for scars and inflammation. That makes rosehip seed oil versatile solution for skin at any age.

Myth: Only the petals matter in skincare.

Truth: The petals may be romantic, but it's the rosehip seed that carry the plant's healing powers. Packed with essential fatty acids, vitamins, and antioxidants, the oil derived from these seed nurtures skin beyond just the surface.

Sometimes, the simplest solutions are the most powerful!
